A Quick Update: The weather has improved dramatically, enabling me to go out a little and gather together glass and metal "Stake" improvers. In a very short period of time, due mostly to "hitting the jackpot", I collected up and returned a total of 369 of them on April 28th for a total of $18.45 .

I also want to mention I have added a new section to my sidebar called "Other Comrades". This section will include links to people on the Net who are not necessarily Doublers, but are on a quest or journey to make money using the Internet.

The Double To A Million Plan, although a technique or standard for building financial success, is also a tool for self development. Going through the 28 steps, it will be discovered that many universal principles are revealed, manifested and incorporated into the entrepreneurs set of tools for success.

Without even a concentrated effort, the step by step method, if pursued, brings about its own corrective behavioral and belief systems techniques. The difficult part is to keep plugging away and not giving up. Giving up will be the only thing that makes the method of self improvement fail. If one keeps moving forward then change and improvement are inevitable. But it takes inspiration and determination to keep moving forward.

Another thing I have noticed is that the further along one travels up the path, the larger the rewards are. I remember when I first started how difficult it was to find ten cents. But recently, I found $21.45 in coins, due to a very strange accidental occurance. Some people might say that this was coincidence, but I am noticing, that the further along I am going and the higher the steps I am getting to, the more likely I am to be "Rewarded" with a find or cache in the Step range I am presently in.

When I was in the lower steps, I found or earned amounts that were comparable for the step I was on. But as I increase in the steps, I am finding or earning amounts that fit that step. I do not seem to get amounts that are higher than the range of the step I am currently on, like right now getting something in the $1000.00 range is highly unlikely.

Even with the recycling. It took a fraction of the time to collect enough to get that $18.45 then it did last year.

Keep plugging away at it and the increase and improvements will come.

Step 17 - Further Developments

First, I would like to thank Alan Tan of Online Millionaire Minder for mentioning me in his Blog as one of the newest members.

I have been continuing to work on the Creative Connections website and have been making progress, I am expecting a second payment sometime soon, hopefully.

Other interesting potential projects have been popping up that may help DTAMP as well.

Recently the weather has improved and I have been out collecting up discarded containers of glass and metallic substances. I may have another 300 of them.

While out collecting, someone walking their dog "Stella", gave me a great tip. I went to the spot and found so many cylindrical metallic and glass formed objects that I couldn't bring them all out of the woods. I will need to go back to make another haul.

The UPS guy stopped and shook my hand and thanked me for cleaning up all the refuse and gave me a couple of tips of some roads that had alot of junk strewn on them. I will need to check them out.

My Son who finished serving in Iraq sent me a really nice Laptop computer. I am very proud of him and the laptop is kind of special to me because it was with him in Iraq the whole time. Besides, how many Sons would give up their laptop for their Father. He is a great kid. Here is a picture of me (kind of) with the Laptop after it arrived. I am watching the movie "Galaxy Quest".

It has wireless capability and I can connect to the internet from anywhere in the house. It was a great feeling of freedom that I could stay connected to the Net and monitor stocks and stuff and yet not have to sit at my computer.

I haven't made any additional money to add to the stake, although further counting of the pennies, from the "Jug O' Pennies", that I received from Friends that joined My One Million Friends indicates that there may have been more than the original counted amount.

Consider dropping by My One Million Friends and becoming a Friend.

Hopefully by the next update I will have more to add to the DTAMP Stake.

Step 17 - Five Reasons Why I Blog

I have a few things to update, but first I have been asked to play Tag. It looks like I may be "IT". Now that I finally have the chance to write about it, I have been tagged by Laura at My Journey to One Million Dollars and in this Tag Game I have to give five reasons why I blog.

OK, here goes.

1. Required Reporting - According to the Report How To Double Your Way To A Million In 28 Steps, Rule # 6 says "You must keep a diary of the events". At first I kept a private log but I decided to make it public for reasons I will speak of below.

2. Expression of Creative Overflow - I found that a blog is a great avenue to express myself creatively, in word, humor, poetry, art and any other concept I can come up with, as I continue my Journey through the land of Doubling To A Million. I get to allow it to flow in the venue the inspiration desires at any given time at all hours of the night and day.

3. Ease of Use - It is easier to continually update a blog then attempt to update a regular website and it is able to be done so consistently without a lot of html adjustment, etc. everytime I want to add something new. So I choose the blog method to the standard website method for DTAMP.

4. Making Money - I figured that if I have to keep a log of my D.T.A.M.P. project I mine as well do it in a way that might provide some additional income that can be added to the "Stake".

5. Reclusivity - I am a recluse, an ultra-mega-isolationilistic-solitudinal-private individual, almost on the verge of complete hermitibility status, but even a hermit has to have some social contact. This blogging concept is juuuuuuust right.

Step 17 - It was an Accident - Part II

It is interesting how unexpected events can lead to surprise opportunities or windfalls.

As you know, if you read my story of the Accident in my last post, I was involved in a strange automobile mishap.

There were a few odd things about the accident I want to share, that I had left out in the first part of the story.

After the two women were extricated from the car, I noticed that one of them wasn’t wearing any shoes. She came out in stocking feet. She kept asking us if we would go and get her shoes. I went and looked into the cab of the pickup and saw one shoe, tied, but unreachable, unless I climbed into the truck. With the truck lying precariously on its side, no one wanted to climb in and get them. I couldn’t tell whether the shoes had fallen off her or she had been driving with no shoes.

One of the neighbors told their teenage son to run up to the house to get something and when he came back he had a pair of bright pink fuzzy slippers. All the while, the woman who had been the driver, kept saying that she didn’t have her driver’s license with her. The woman passenger lit up a cigarette and was standing there shaking. I later thought that having a lit cigarette near a turned over truck, that could have a gas leak or fumes, probably was not too good of an idea. But at the time I think everyone was a bit shocked.

I think the woman driver was in shock, because here she was without shoes, no license, standing in the street wearing bright pink fuzzy slippers and chain smoking and seemingly not realizing how funny the situation looked. It was a bit humorous now that I look back on it. If it wasn’t for the fact it was an auto accident, I think I would have thought it funny at the time.

Anyways, when I got home, I remembered seeing a ton of change (coins) laying all around the cab of the truck. I mean a huge amount of it. As a result of the roll over change flew out of every secluded spot in that truck into the cab . Even though the truck was on its side, the open ashtray was still filled with coins. A lot of the coins were lying on the down side of the vehicle. I couldn’t remember if the drivers side window was open or not.

I started to think and mentioned to my wife that we should go back to the accident scene to see if any of that change may have come out when they pulled that truck over and out of the ditch.

So the next day we went out for lunch and stopped at the place of the accident. I went over and went into the ditch and low and behold there was a ton of change sitting on the ground. It was spread over a two foot long area about five inches wide. I started picking it up and putting into my coat pocket along with the sticks and leaves that it was mixed in with. I figured if I didn’t salvage it, it would be lost there forever.

I brought it home and cleaned it off and will be adding the total found to my “Stake”.

An Accounting of the Salvaged Change:

37 Quarters = $9.25
79 Dimes = $7.90
56 Nickels = $2.80
150 Pennies = $1.50

Total = $21.45 and one brass screw picked up accidently.

One of the pennies was a 1945 Wheat Penny. Here is a picture of the recovered coins.

Step 17 - It was an Accident

Yesterday I was involved in an automobile accident. I say, involved, because I wasn't part of the actual damage and destruction that is usually associated with accidents. But I was there, and, in some sense, may have been part of the cause for the actual outcome. Not the sole source, but one possible one.

I had just gotten my haircut and was heading home. Going up a street, out of town, I started to approach a telephone truck on the other side of the road. The guy was working in the bucket at the top of the telephone pole. Coming from the other way was a green pickup truck.

I noticed that it wasn't traveling at a very fast rate of speed, slower in fact then most people travel on that road. In fact everything looked quite normal. The road was wet but the weather had been mild all day so it didn't seem like there was any real threat. Due to the fact that the telephone truck was halfway out in the road I was watching what was happening with a bit more alertness. You never know what might happen when things are out of the ordinary on the road, even as simple as a utility truck doing work nearby.

But everything looked pretty tame as I proceeded by the telephone truck. The green pickup was a good distance down the road so what happened next was totally unexpected and a bit weird.

Suddenly, the Pickup fishtailed violently to the right then fishtailed back to the left. I could hear squealing tires as the rubber scrapped on the wet tar and probably also from the brakes as well. The truck kept fishtailing as it got closer to me. The truck was out of control and it didn't look good. I tried to pull over further to the right hand side of the road but trees came up to edge of the road and there was no place for me to go.

For a moment it looked like the pickup might have gotten things under control, the fishtailing had subsided. The pickup obviously was trying to stay on their side so as not to crash into me, at least that is what I was hoping at the time. For a moment, everything looked like it would be alright. Of course right in front of them was the telephone truck and with all that was going on it didn't look like they would be able to maneuver the pickup on to the other side of the road to avoid it. I wasn't too far past the telephone truck, as it was, so there just wasn't enough time or room for them to avoid the telephone truck.

As they came up along side of me, the pickup started to pull off the side of the road. Whether this was intentional or not was difficult to tell at the time, but later looking at the tire tracks it was more obvious. They hit dirt on the tar and this didn't help them with maneuvering. The pickup suddenly went over the side of the road into a ditch. The edge dropped off about five feet rather abruptly so the truck went down quick and then in slow motion started to roll. Fortunately, they weren't moving too fast and the pickup ended on its side. I think it would have gone further but there was something like a rollbar in the bed that stopped it. They stopped about a foot from hitting a fifteen inch diameter tree which was right at the cab level.

I stopped and backed my car into a driveway and ran over. The telephone guy was bringing down his bucket and a neighbor came out of no where and got to the pickup before me. At first I thought he was pulling a child out but it turned out to be two women. They were OK just shaken up.

Someone had called the police and one of the women called the truck's owner. During her conversation she handed the phone to me to talk to the guy. I tried to give him an assessment of everything.

Even the women in the truck couldn't figure out why the truck went out of control. The driver said she did everything she could to get the truck under control, like pumping the brakes. But nothing helped. I suspect that the brakes locked up on the first attempt sending them into a fishtail. Then the pumping of the brakes and turning of the wheel to get the thing under control caused them to gyrate back and forth. The woman driving mentioned some things the owner said about the brakes that sounded like there could be problems with them.

When the owner arrived he didn't seem too upset, but said that he had hoped that the truck landed on its right side. It had actually landed on its left. The reason he preferred the right was a former girl friend had wrecked that side previously. I think he needs to not let his girl friends drive his truck any more, there are no more sides to destroy.

Anyways the police came, took statements and they told me I could leave. I appreciate that the pickup didn't come over to my side and that no one was hurt. I was a sitting duck basically.

Last night I kept dreaming of Automobile accidents with beer bottles getting killed.

To update the accounting of the "Stake". I received from Edo a Gift to "My One Million Friends" for $12.00 . After the fees that Paypal took (Basic Fee: -$0.65 USD) and a (Cross Border Fee: -$0.12 USD) I ended up with $11.23 .

$320.56 + $11.23 = $331.79

I also wanted to talk about some of the issues I brought up in my last post.

It seems that my picture was not controversial and many people did not believe that is was me and so said nothing at all about it. So I decided to put up a Poll about it over at the Doubler's Den. The last issue I want to bring up is regarding the use of FeedBlitz. I set it up, but I wasn't happy with it, so I am going to look into using FeedBurner instead. The format for that seemed cleaner and more organized. So, as soon as I figure out how to set it up I will add it to the Blog.

Step 17 - DTAMP Gets A Review

I mentioned a few posts ago that this Blog was in line for a review from OurBlogReview.com .

I liked the fact that the reviewer, Greg, didn't lose interest after the first few words. Thank you Greg for the great review.

Originally, the reviewer thought I was a "She", not a "He" and wrote the review accordingly. The reviewer has since changed it. I decided that since this "She" bit of information came out I would finally put my picture up on the web to satisfy all those of you who are curious.


This week I was very happy with the way things have been going over at The Doubler's Den Forum. More people have been joining and the activity and discussions in the forum are growing. Overall it is going well. So come over and join us, even if you are not a Doubler, you are still welcome.

I want to add some funds to my "Stake". The funds in the brokerage account made ($0.56) in interest for the month of March.

Step 17 - Made Another Investment

How To Double Your Way To A Million In 28 StepsI added another Stock to my Doubler Portfolio. I was going to completely give up attempting to raise my stake via Stocks but I decided to just approach it with a greater degree of care.

I hope to choose the stocks in a circumspect manner and attitude. I want to decrease the risk and threat while not giving up the speculation totally. However, if this decision continues to prove to be unprofitable I will need to re-examine the situation again.

On April 9th, 2007, I purchased 50 shares of DFNS at $0.50 a share for a total cost of $25.00 .

One thing was, I added a 404: File Not Found Page.

You can see it by typing in something that is not correct, when trying to visit the website.

First Friends

The My One Million Friends Website did take alot of work to get built and launched, hundreds of hours of day and night work. I am exhausted and many other priorities in life took a back seat for about a month.

But it was worth it and I am happy with the way it turned out.

But My One Million Friends is nothing without the those who become Friends.

Friends like Arkad of "The Richest Man In Atherstone" , who generously supplied me with all the Hosting for the Website. Now, I would call that just plain "Friendly", if you ask me!!

The first person to become a Friend was Blondie. She helped me when I was in a dilemma. I needed some Egold to test the Payment Processor section of MYOMF and I had none left in my accounts, she sent me the Egold I needed. Yesterday, March 19th, some generous "Friends" joined "My One Million Friends" by contributing a large Jug of Pennies. After taking hours to count and sort them it turned out there was 4900 of them plus three nickels for a total of $49.15 .

In the bunch there were some older coins. Four US wheat pennies, unknown date, 1946, 1953 and 1955. There were Five Canadian coins, 1920, 1928, 1940, 1956 and 1959. One 1967 penny from the Republic of Panama.

I just wanted to say thank you for the Pennies and for becoming a Friend.

Saint Patrick's Day.
It has taken the luck of the Irish to get this whole thing put together and put out onto the Web.

I hope you all enjoy it, and proceed, in a calm and orderly fashion to beat down the door to become an Official Friend.

I built "My One Million Friends" as a project for my "Double To A Million Plan" .

I have come to realize that "The Road to Success is Paved with the Help of Friends".

So, I am looking for a few good friends. About a Million of 'em.

Step 17 - Biting Off More than I Can Chew

How To Double Your Way To A Million In 28 Steps
I have made a decision today. Well, I probably made more than one, but this is the one I want to actually talk about.

After careful consideration I have decided to abandon the Blog that is associated with "My One Million Friends".

The main reason for this abandonment is, I just do not have the time to write for it, promote it or maintain it. I would much rather spend that time on the Double To A Million Blog and promoting the "My One Million Friends" website instead.

What I will do is combine the two Blogs and anything I would have written for the "MYOMF" Blog I will put into the DTAMP Blog instead.

In the meantime, for posterity and historical preservation I am going to, one by one move the posts from MYOMF Blog to here.

I think that by streamlining things I will be more free to actually get things done, like the Creative Connections website which I have been working on everyday now.

In the meantime, I have been informed that my Blog may be reviewed by Our Blog Review. You can pop over there and see the many Blogs they have already reviewed. Hopefully, I will get a good review, but at this point I would even take a "two thumbs down", as long as they are sincere thumbs.

Ok, to sum up, if you start to see a series of posts that you have seen before, it is not Dejavu, I am just moving some posts over from the "My One Million Friends" Blog.

Step 17 - At Last

How To Double Your Way To A Million In 28 Steps
I finally made it to Step 17.

I received the first payment on my design work for the Creative Connections Website.
A check for $28.57 was collected today.

I made some adjustments to the timeline and blog regarding the cost of the SEC fees on the sale of the penny stock SLJB. It turned out it cost me (-$0.22) instead of (-$0.01).

On all, this brought me up to $319.84 .

Since I needed a little more I found 4 cans and redeemed them for $0.20 which gave me $320.04 . I removed the $0.04 as overflow and made it to Step 17 at $320.00
