Step 16 - A New Year This Way Comes
Two Thousand and Six is nearly over and a New Year Cometh.
That is all I want to say about 2006. It was not a very good year for me, in fact, it has been one of the worst in the top five for my lifetime. That is all I am going to say about that.
So, I guess I will recap the last Eleven days.
December 22nd, I found a penny ($0.01) at Burger King in front of the register on the floor.
On December 23rd, I went to the Wine Store and brought in the pile of Aluminum Cans that were questionable as to whether they were redeemable or not. It took nearly half of them, 209 for $10.45 return. I was very pleased at this unexpected outcome and financial windfall.
When I was walking in, I noticed that there were two tickets sticking out of the machines, one for ($0.30) and one for ($0.45) . It seems a lot of people forget to press the button after finishing, walk away and then the machine pops out the ticket but there is no one there to take it. I may start just popping into the store to see if there are any tickets left behind.
On December 26th, I stopped at the Bank to conduct some business and saw a Quarter ($0.25) on the floor and went over to pick it up. That was the largest value coin I have found to date.
December 27th, I stopped in to get my glasses which have been redone six times. I was relieved when they actually worked. On the way out, I spotted a penny as I got to the top of the escalator at Macy's Department Store. I paused to pick it up, and quickly discovered why it was there and why no one had picked it up previously. Stopping at the top of an escalator will inevitably lead to a large pile of humans struggling to get out of said pile whilest more humans pile on top of them. Can you say Pile-Up.
I escaped with the coin.
Actually I am just funnin, I have become very talented and swift at picking up coins from the ground before anyone knows what is happening.
Later on the 27th, I stopped to visit someone and they gave me Thirty-One pennies ($0.31) they had laying around. I appreciated that. They also had a large jug filled with pennies and made indications they might give them to me as well.
They also gave me a toy from a cereal box called an X-BOX. The instructions called it Spaceship Blaster. It is a cute little game with an LCD screen and some controls to manuever things on the screen and a trigger to fire at the approaching enemy seeking to get your "One Found Penny". Here is a picture in case you never saw one. I know I never have until the other day.
If anyone is interested in purchasing you very own X-Box just let me know.
Present Stake: $187.71
Motto: It is only "one" found penny.
