Double To A Million - Step 19 - Feast or Famine
It has been a month since I updated the DTAMP blog. This month has been difficult in many ways, personally and universally.
The one thing about life that irks me a bit is that it is rarely consistent. People are not consistent, events in this world are not consistent, generally speaking there is just no consistency.
So without consistency one must contend with something we have come to know as Feast or Famine. It seems that good times, profitable times, or at the very least easier times seem to come along and those times appear that they will go on forever.
It is important that during those good times, the Feast, we save as much as possible, store away a portion of what we make, limit our consumption, do not extend ourselves financially or with large commitments. Because, of course, the Feast doesn't last.
You have to be careful because there will be many that will say, its a new paradigm, a new era, the things of the past will not happen again. You will be tempted to ride the gravy train with abandon, spend money like it is water and never give a thought for tomorrow.
But as sure as the sun sets in the west, the days of famine will come. What surprised me about what has occurred this time is the days of famine came in like a speeding bullet. One day things looked ok, not great but ok, then bang everything began to crumble and cave in on itself. Then suddenly the days of famine are upon us.
When a disaster comes it does not come alone, it comes in packs, like ravenous wolves who are starving and voracious, killing and devouring everything in their path.
The cycle is down and the famine in full swing now, and it seems that once the cycle begins moving in that direction it doesn't let up until it reaches its bottom.
The Famine will run its course and hopefully we will have saved for it during the good times.
I have always been taught to save for a rainy day but this has already become a deluge and it may last much longer than 40 days and 40 nights, perhaps 400 days, hopefully not 4000.
Although I saved for the days of famine, I took too many risks during that time and decreased my savings capacity and potential. I learned that I must be even more diligent when or if the days of Feast return. They should return, but it may be a very long time from now.
In the mean time, I have changed my mind set to "Survival Mode".
DTAMP Update:
DTAMP has seemingly suffered with a famine as well over the last month.
Nothing of much substance has been occuring.
Since the last update I found four pennies ($0.04) and received a $25.00 gift in gratitude for my consulting assistance with someones finances.
Other than that the oasis has become a desert once more.
Present Stake: $2075.16
Motto: It is only "one" found penny.
Slogan: As Simple As Finding A Penny.

This Doubling Blog is based upon the Doubling Plan "How to Double Your Way to a £Million in 28 Steps". It is an attempt to "Double Your Way to a Million" by going from one penny to one million dollars, starting from nothing. At the beginning you start by finding a penny and then double a penny until reaching $1,000,000.
